It began over 70 years ago, looking for a way to be

profitable with winter grass.

The Tokeena herd combines forage genetics from Jorgensen Land and Cattle in South Dakota and Stevenson Basin in Montana to produce a breeding program based on consistent and highly predictable genetics.

This is the only feed truck you'll see pull up at Tokeena. We haven't sacrificed balance for trends. We've kept moderate framed cattle that work in today's real world of $4 diesel and $8 corn.

 From millet, sudex haylage with rye/wheat grazing in winter to Bermuda and crabgrass grazing in summer, our cattle keep the family farm alive and well in a world of ethanol and healthy eating.  

Tokeena cows will raise good calves year after year. The feedlot guys like getting our calves too. This year's steers were harvested early due to feed costs and still graded 88% choice. 

We know it might not be the best paying way to make a living, but it's sure the best LIFESTYLE anybody could ever ask for!!!
